Requirements

Full Time Firefighter

To be hired as a full time firefighter for the Warrenville Fire Protection District, you must meet the following:

  • At least 21 years of age and not older than 35 at time of appointment, except per Illinois Statute 65 ILCS 5/10-2.1-6
  • U.S. Citizen
  • No felony convictions
  • Associate's Degree Required
  • Possess a valid driver's license with good driving record
  • Complete and submit a medical physical
  • Possess 20/20 corrected vision
  • Present a valid CPAT card with Ladder Climb (at time of application)
  • Possess a valid Paramedic License from the Illinois Department of Public Health - (IDPH) (at time of hire)
  • Possess a Firefighter II or Basic Operations Firefighter (BOF) Certification from the Office of the State Fire Marshal (Illinois) (at time of hire)
  • Must successfully test into the Edward Hospital EMS System (after tentative offer of employment)
  • Must successfully complete a written examination


Paid-on-Call (POC) Firefighter / EMT-B

If you are interested in being a FireFighter/EMT and serving the community in which you live, Warrenville Fire Protection District will accept your application for paid on call personnel. Potential candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • 18-50 years of age, Applies towards TCD, Technology Center of DuPage Fire Science/Emergency Medical Technician
  • U.S. Citizen
  • No felony convictions
  • High school graduate or GED equivalent
  • Complete and submit a Medical Physical
  • Meet the CPAT requirements or be employed with a fire department with documentation of having a previous CPAT and a current physical
  • Possess 20/20 corrected vision
  • Successfully complete a background check
  • Live within 1 mile of the edge of the fire district
  • Possess a valid Illinois Drivers' License
  • Possess a valid Emergency Medical Technician – Basic (EMT-B) or Paramedic (EMT-P) License from the Illinois Department of Public Health - (IDPH)
  • Must successfully test into the Edward Hospital EMS System
  • Completion of probationary firefighter book within one year of appointment
  • Attend Fire Academy and successfully certify as basic Operations Firefighter(BOF) Certification from the Office of the State Fire Marshal (Illinois)


Part Time Firefighter / Paramedic

  • 18-50 years of age
  • U.S. Citizen
  • No felony convictions
  • High school graduate or GED equivalent
  • Possess a valid Illinois driver's license with good driving record
  • Possess 20/20 corrected vision
  • Complete and submit a Medical Physical
  • Successfully complete a background check
  • Present a valid CPAT card with Ladder Climb (at time of application)
  • Possess a valid Paramedic License from the Illinois Department of Public Health - (IDPH) (at time of hire)
  • Possess a Firefighter II or Basic Operations Firefighter (BOF) Certification from the Office of the State Fire Marshal (Illinois) (at time of hire)
  • Must successfully test into the Edward Hospital EMS System (after tentative offer of employment)
  • Must be of good moral character, sound health, and must be physically able to perform the duties of the position
  • Must be available to work a mminimum of three shifts per month
  • Completion of probationary firefighter book within one year of appointment
  • Participate in a minimum of 6 hours of training each month while on shisft, and/or during evening department drills
