29W400 Block of Crabtree Ln

WARRENVILLE, IL. — At approximately 1:42 pm on Friday, July 2, 2021 the DuPage Public Safety Communications Center (DU-COMM) received a 911 call from a resident reporting a house with two cars on fire in the 29W400 Crabtree Lane in Warrenville. A structure fire response was dispatched sending fire units from the Warrenville Fire Protection District along with assistance from surrounding communities.

Warrenville companies arrived on the scene within five minutes of the initial 911 call and reported a two-story multi-family residence with a fire in the driveway that had extended into the structure. Warrenville police assisted the fire department by ensuring that all residents were evacuated from units adjacent to the fire building. The first arriving engine company stretched a hose line to the front of the building extinguishing the exterior fire and transitioned inside to make an aggressive interior fire attack. A second hose line was advanced to the second floor of the fire unit to check for upward fire extension and search for occupants. While the fire attack was underway, other fire companies searched adjoining living units to ensure that all occupants had evacuated and that no fire had extended beyond the original fire unit. Primary and secondary searches of the building were negative. The fire was brought under control within 15 minutes of arriving on the scene. Two vehicles that were reported to be burning had been relocated prior to the fire department’s arrival on the scene and sustained radiant heat damage.

The Warrenville Fire Protection District was assisted on scene by the Wheaton Fire Department, West Chicago Fire Protection District, Winfield Fire Protection District, Naperville Fire Department, Fermi-Lab Fire Department, Lisle-Woodridge Fire Protection District, Warrenville Police Department, Warrenville Building Department, Com-Ed, and NICOR.

The fire unit was deemed uninhabitable by the City of Warrenville building department. The displaced residents were assisted with alternate housing by the Warrenville Fire Protection District. All other building residents were allowed to return to their residences.

No firefighters or civilians were injured as a result of this fire. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
