Structure Fire 3S100 Block of Birchwood Drive

WARRENVILLE, Ill. — At approximately 10:12 pm on Wednesday, November 24, 2021, the DuPage Public Safety Communications Center (DUCOMM) received a 911 call from a neighbor reporting flames showing from the second-floor window of a home in the 3S100 block of Birchwood Drive in Warrenville IL. A structure fire response was dispatched sending fire units from the Warrenville Fire Protection District and surrounding communities.

Warrenville Engine 11 arrived on the scene first and reported smoke showing from a two-story multi-family residential home. Crews ensured that all occupants had evacuated the residence and immediately began fire extinguishment efforts. As subsequent fire companies arrived on the scene, Primary and Secondary searches were conducted and adjoining residential units were evacuated. The fire was confined to the unit of origin.

The Warrenville Fire Protection District was assisted on scene by the Naperville Fire Department as well as the West Chicago, and Winfield Fire Protection Districts. The City of Warrenville Police department and City of Warrenville Building Officials and the DuPage County Fire Investigation Task Force were also on scene to support the incident.

NICOR and Commonwealth Edison secured the utilities and the home was deemed to be uninhabitable due to the amount of fire and smoke damage.

No residents or firefighters were injured as a result of this fire. The cause of the fire remains under investigation at the time of this release.
