2S500 Block of Sova Lane

WARRENVILLE, Ill. — At approximately 10:47 am on Friday, February 9, 2024, the DuPage Public Safety Communications Center (DUCOMM) received a 911 call from a caller stating that their dryer was on fire. An appliance fire response was transmitted sending one engine, one ladder truck, and one ambulance to the scene.

The first Warrenville fire unit arrived on the scene and reported smoke showing from the front door and garage, and immediately upgraded the assignment to a structure fire response sending two additional engines, one squad, one ladder truck, two ambulances, and three chief officers. The resident and her pet had safely evacuated the home and reported that no one else was in the home. The first arriving Warrenville engine made entry into the building and quickly extinguished the fire which had been contained to the laundry room. As other fire companies arrived, they assisted with checking for fire extension and ventilating the smoke from the structure.

The Warrenville Fire Protection District was assisted on the scene by the Winfield and West Chicago Fire Protection Districts; and the Naperville Fire Department. The Warrenville Police Department, City of Warrenville Building Code Officials, Nicor, and ComEd utility companies also provided assistance.

The cause of the fire was investigated and determined to be accidental in nature. No firefighters or civilians were injured as a result of this fire. Following the investigation, the home was deemed habitable by the Warrenville Fire Protection District and the City of Warrenville building code official.
