3S200 Block of Patterman Road

WARRENVILLE, Ill. — At approximately 1:45 pm on Sunday, March 3, 2024, the DuPage Public Safety Communications Center (DUCOMM) received a 911 call from a Citizen reporting a small patch of grass on fire behind a detached garage in the 3S200 Block of Patterman Road in Warrenville, IL. DUCOMM immediately dispatched a single-engine response to the scene. DUCOMM subsequently received more information from the caller who stated the garage was beginning to catch on fire and at 1:47 pm the incident was upgraded to a structure fire response bringing two additional engines, two ladder trucks, one heavy rescue squad, two ambulances, and four chief officers to the scene.

The first Warrenville fire unit arrived on the scene within 5 minutes of the initial 911 call and reported a working fire in a one-story detached garage. Companies stretched a hose line to the rear of the burning structure and put water on the fire within approximately three minutes of arriving on the scene. The exposure home to the immediate South of the burning structure also sustained damage as a result of the fire. Fire companies checked that home and found the damage to be mostly heat and smoke-related. Both homes were deemed to be habitable and were turned back over to the homeowners once the fire investigation was completed.

The Warrenville Fire Protection District was assisted on the scene by the Winfield and West Chicago Fire Protection Districts, and the Wheaton and Naperville Fire Departments. The Warrenville Police Department, Nicor, and ComEd utility companies also provided assistance on the scene.

The cause of the fire was investigated by Warrenville Fire Protection District fire investigators and the cause was determined to be accidental in nature. No firefighters or civilians were injured as a result of this fire.
