Proclamation

National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week – April 12 – 18, 2026

WHEREAS, DuPage Public Safety Communications, known as DU-COMM, plays a vital role in the protection of human life and property in our community; and

WHEREAS, DU-COMM has been successfully serving the public safety communications needs of the Warrenville Fire Protection District and surrounding communities since 1989; and

WHEREAS, while enduring long shifts and handling frequent life and death emergencies, DU-COMM Telecommunicators set high standards in performing their duties in a dedicated, diligent, and compassionate manner; and

WHEREAS, DU-COMM Telecommunicators provide a critical communication link between residents and fire, police, and emergency medical service providers; and

WHEREAS, these individuals efficiently coordinate emergency services to ensure the health and safety of our residents, visitors, and travelers throughout the Warrenville Fire Protection District, 24 hours a day, seven days a week; and

WHEREAS, Public Safety Telecommunicators serve the public daily in countless ways without due recognition by the beneficiaries of their services;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Fire Chief and Board of Trustees of the Warrenville Fire Protection District proclaims the week of April 12–18, 2026, as: 

“National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week” and extends its sincere appreciation to DU-COMM Telecommunicators for their dedication, professionalism, and service to our community.
