Warrenville Fire Protection District Media Release

WHEATON, IL – May 6, 2026 – The Warrenville Fire Protection District (WFPD) successfully extinguished a structure fire this morning in a single-story detached garage. The DuPage Public Safety Communications Center (DUCOMM) received a 911 call from the resident reporting a fire inside the barn at 7:36 AM on Wednesday, May 6, 2026. The first WFPD unit arrived on the scene within seven minutes of dispatch and immediately reported heavy smoke and visible flames from the detached garage in the rear of the residence. The first arriving fire companies rapidly deployed multiple hose lines to the rear of the residence to coordinate a successful fire attack. Other fire companies conducted searches of the adjacent structures and assisted with overhaul.

There were no reported injuries to any civilians or firefighters. While the garage sustained extensive damage, there was little to no significant impact to the main living areas or overall structure of the residence. The home remains habitable. Preliminary estimates indicate the fire caused in excess of $100,000 in damage.

The DuPage County Fire Investigation Task Force reported to the scene to conduct the origin and cause investigation. The Warrenville Fire Protection District extends its thanks to the assisting agencies that responded to this incident, including the City of Wheaton Fire Department, Winfield Fire Protection District, Naperville Fire Department, Lisle-Woodridge Fire Protection District, the DuPage County Sheriff, and the DuPage County Fire Investigation Task Force.
