Requirements
Full-Time Firefighter Paramedic
To be hired as a full-time firefighter for the Warrenville Fire Protection District, you must meet the following:
- Applicants must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age at the time of hire and under thirty-five (35) years of age on the last date of submission of applications for original appointment unless otherwise provided by state or federal law.
- U.S. Citizen
- No felony convictions
- Associate’s Degree Required
- Possess a valid driver’s license with a good driving record
- Complete and submit a medical physical
- Possess 20/20 corrected vision
- Present a valid CPAT card with Ladder Climb (at the time of application)
- Possess a valid Paramedic License from the Illinois Department of Public Health – (IDPH) (at the time of hire)
- Possess a Firefighter II or Basic Operations Firefighter (BOF) Certification from the Office of the State Fire Marshal (Illinois) (at time of hire)
- Must successfully test into the Edward Hospital EMS System (after a tentative offer of employment)
- Must successfully complete a written examination
Paid-on-Call (POC) Firefighter / EMT-B
If you are interested in being a Firefighter/EMT and serving the community in which you live, Warrenville Fire Protection District will accept your application for paid-on-call personnel. Potential candidates must meet the following requirements:
- 18-35 years of age
- U.S. Citizen
- No felony convictions
- High school graduate or GED equivalent
- Must pass a comprehensive pre-employment medical examination
- Meet the CPAT requirements or be employed with a fire department with documentation of having a previous CPAT and a current physical
- Possess 20/20 corrected vision
- Must pass a comprehensive background investigation
- Live within 5 miles of the edge of the fire district
- Possess a valid Illinois Drivers’ License
- Must successfully test into the Edward Hospital EMS System
- Completion of probationary firefighter book within two years of appointment
- Attend Fire Academy and successfully certified as Basic Operations Firefighter(BOF) Certification from the Office of the State Fire Marshal (Illinois)
Part-time Firefighter / Paramedic / EMT-B
- 18-35 years of age
- U.S. Citizen
- No felony convictions
- High school graduate or GED equivalent
- Possess a valid Illinois driver’s license with a good driving record
- Possess 20/20 corrected vision
- Must pass a comprehensive pre-employment medical examination
- Must pass a comprehensive background investigation
- Possess a valid CPAT card with a Ladder Climb certificate
- Possess a valid Paramedic License from the Illinois Department of Public Health – (IDPH) (at the time of hire)
- Must successfully test into the Edward Hospital EMS System (after a tentative offer of employment)
- Completion of probationary firefighter book within one year of appointment
- Participate in a minimum of 6 hours of training each month while on shift, and/or during evening department drills
